What You Must Score In Jamb 2019/2020 To Gain Admission

What Jamb score do I need to get admitted into the University to study Law, Medicine, Engineering, Pharmacy, Accounting, Agriculture, Mass Comm, etc? So many candidates have been asking me this question.

You may also ask, “If I score between 180 and 200……can I gain admission with my score? If that’s your question, then this article is for you. I will try to answer your questions and as well make it very easy and straightforward.

Now, the Jamb Score which Guarantees You Admission Into Any University is directly proportional to your choice of course and first choice school.

I hear people say that with a score of 250 you are automatically Admitted to study any course. Seriously I don’t know the origin of that lie. But I am sure that it did not originate from Jamb or any school. You can score 250 and still not be admitted. On the other hand, you can score 180 in Jamb and gain admission.

Jamb 2020 Score That Guarantees Your Admission Into The University

The Jamb score you need to gain admission is determined by five factors.

Performance of students in Jamb Results.
Nature of Your course Generally.
Competition of the course in your choice University.
The Number of students to be admitted.
Admission Factors: Merit, Catchment and Educationally less developed States.

I will briefly explain each factor above and how they determine what you need to score in Jamb for sure admission.

1. Performance of Students in Jamb:

The higher the performance of students in Jamb, the higher the cut off the mark. This is one reason we cannot easily predict the Jamb cut off until results are out.

The more candidates pass well in Jamb and post utme, the higher the general, faculty and departmental cut off.

Last year’s cut of mark for your course will likely not be the cut of mark to be used this year (Since the performance of candidates change yearly).

2. Nature of Your Course Generally:

Hotcake Courses in Nigeria like Medicine And Surgery, Pharmacy, Engineering, Law, Accounting and so on require you to get a higher Jamb score.

However, newer and less competitive courses like entrepreneurship, mathematics, etc require relatively low Jamb UTME score. This is because only a few candidates apply to study such courses in the universities.

If you are not extremely intelligent, your best bet is to study courses that so many persons don’t apply for. With this, it is very easy for you to gain admission once.

3. The Competition of the Course in your choice University:

Some Universities are known to be good some courses. Because of this, the demand for it in that particular school gets higher than in other schools.

For example FUTO, UI and UNIBEN are known to be good at Engineering, AAU is know for Law and Uniben for Pharmacy (Since they offer doctor of Pharmacy certificate). You will expect the cut of mark for those courses in these schools to be higher than it is in other citadels of learning.

4. The Number of students to be admitted:

The higher the carrying capacity of a University, the more they are willing to admit. This will increase the chance of being admitted with a relatively low score.

Some Universities admit over ten thousand candidates while others admit even below four thousand candidates.

5. Admission Factors:

Admission factors such as Merit, Catchment and Educationally less developed States determines the Jamb score you need to be admitted. Cut off for merit is usually the highest. With a relatively low score, you can be admitted based on State and catchment.

Jamb Score You Need:

Although the above factors are responsible for the Jamb score you need to be sure of admission, yet we have studied the cut off curve over time.

With a score above 250 to 280, You have a chance of being admitted to study a competitive course.
With a Jamb score of 200 to 250, You have a chance of getting a moderately competitive course.
A score of 290+ should guarantee you admission to study any course.

Recommend Action Students Should Take when Denied Admission Despite Scoring High In JAMB.

Recently after the 2019 jambs was concluded and results announced some folks were lucky and some were not, in this article we will see to the Recommend Action Students Should Take When Denied Admission Despite Scoring High In JAMB.

But i think it is very fundamental you know the Reason Why Students Are Denied Admission Despite Scoring High In JAMB.

Today, I will be writing on the topic, “Why Students Are Denied Admission“……..”Even Though They Scored High In JAMB“. How is that possible? You’ll see at the end of this article. What about those that scored low in JAMB? Or those that performed averagely? Simple! If you score low in JAMB, you already know why you might be denied admission in 2017, it is either:

You end up not meeting the school cut-off mark
You end up not meeting the departmental cut-off mark

But, that is not where we are going today. I will be focusing directly on those that scored high in JAMB and indirectly on others. WHY? A factor that denied someone who scored high the chance of getting admitted can also do the same to those that have low or average scores in Jamb.

So, any category that you fall in, just keep reading because it is meant for all Jamb candidates and admission seekers. To keep the long story short, below are the reasons why students are denied admission.

1. WRONG UTME SUBJECT COMBINATION

Imagine a candidate that sat down for Mathematics, English, Physics, and Chemistry who wants to study Medicine and surgery or a candidate that sat down for English, Account, Economics, and Mathematics that wants to study Law. What happens, they will be disqualified during the screening exercise.

Whether they meet the requirement for the merit list or not, they will be disqualified. So, my advice is that, make sure you have chosen a course that goes with your subject combination. If not, change of course/institution is still on, go and change it immediately.

2. LACK OF PROPER INFORMATION AND GUIDE

What about a candidate that scored high in JAMB but was not able to meet the screening exercise. These are candidates that depend on others for their source of information and they end up missing an important admission process such as the screening. WHY? They were not informed. If you are not informed, you’ll be deformed. Don’t be thrown into the darkness of NO ADMISSION, don’t miss your chance of getting admitted because of lack of a proper guidance. 3. LISTENING TO EVERYTHING

Candidates that are fond of “I heard”, “They said”, “They told me that” and such are the ones that fall into this category. They don’t look for new updates and admission news by themselves but will listen to everything they are told. Nothing is more confusing than listening to everything. You will end up not knowing the truth, you just believe everything. While some will tell you yes, others will say no and you’ll be confused. At the end of the day, you might follow the wrong information.

4. BAD PERFORMANCE IN POST-UTME

You think you have scored high, so you don’t need to read for Post-UTME. You think you passed Jamb, so you’ll pass Post-UTME. You are totally wrong!. Yes, you are. If you fail Post-UTME, you will be denied the chance of gaining admission. If you don’t know that the departmental cut-off marks for each course will be based on your Post-UTME score only if your school conducts Post-UTME, this is the time for you to know.
